Jennifer Rutiaga
I am the messenger blog #1

Through out the story Ed figures out the intelligence of each of his friends, how there individual feelings brought them together and challenges each had to go through. A connection I saw Ed’s friends with my friends is that I can compare each of my friends similar to Ed’s friends. Ed and me both hang out with a bunch of smart mouth kids and find math a very difficult subject.

In some sort of way you can say that Ed’s family relationship is bad but not worse than his friends family relationship. Ed still talks to his mom even though she is a stuck up, cold heart person. His dad died so he doesn’t have to bother with him, in the being of the story he stated he was cool with both his older sister and lost a little contact after they left the house. He doesn’t really talk his brother but you can feel a little separation/rivalry in both of them. Ed and his friends didn’t have the happy family a kid experiences with so they in some sort of way have become there own family. I honestly think that there own biological family isn’t going to evolve but their little family will, just by the parent’s actions they didn’t care why should they care now.

In my opinion I think “Doorman” is a very important element of the story. With doorman’s presence as a reader we can find out his thoughts through the dog. At the same time we find out more of his personality like his solitude and his kind hearted. Doorman also represent a symbol to Ed like a family or love symbol, something he didn’t have a good experience ever since he took that family picture he had in his living room.

  1. LOL! I really liked the way you put your words together to answer these three questions. My favorite part was the Math example. I can totally relate to that. First of all because I hate Math and second of all because my friends hate it too so we find it very difficult to understand it.
