I Am the Messenger
During the robbery, Ed's friend show their maturity by arguing with each while having an armed robber in the room. They were threatened several times but still showed no signs of doing what the robber wanted them to. This is how me and my friends are. when me and my best friend get in trouble, its like it hasn't even happened. On time her dad got mad at us because we fell asleep on the couch and we were having another conversation while he was talking
Ed's family seems very dysfunctional and not very loving. In the story it say how his brother and sisters are successful while Ed is just the cab driver. His mom looks down on him because he did not live up to his expectations. I one situation she gets mad at him for not doing picking up a table. finally when he drops it off his brother comes in and messes up his good deed by offering her something finer. However his friend are just like Ed, or at least don't care so much about living up to peoples expectations. they except each other the way they are. no questions asked. I feel after a while his friend will push each other to do better because Audrey want to see Ed do better. In turn, that will show his friends they can be too.
the doorman is a very important part of this story. He is Ed's sanity. When ed is alone, he drinks coffee with him. When he didn't know whether to go to the house, the doorman re assured him. Over all, if the doorman wasn't in Ed's life he would go crazy.
