Ed learns more about his friends when he receives the first card.
He asked all of them what they thought it meant and they all kind of just
brushed it off and said they were to stupid and lazy to do it. Audrey is the
only one who gives him a clue of what it might be but doesn't know the full
answer completely. Asking them if it was them who did it made him realize that
Richie and Marv really just don't care. You can see Ed distancing himself from
them little by little.
Ed doesn't have a great relationship with his family. His dad was hardly
there, and was a drunk. He died while at work from his liver giving out. You
cant tell Ed wish his dad was still there and that he misses him. Ed's dad,
even though being a drunk, still stayed with Ed's mom no matter what she put
him through. His mom is very rude to Ed, she calls him "dickhead"
constantly. She is unsupportive and just really doesn't seem like she cares
about Ed unless she needs something. I dont think Ed and his mom's relationship
will evolve.
The Doorman is a
very important element to the story. That is who Ed goes to every time he
doesn't know what to do. He's also like Ed's best friend, kind of representing
Ed's father. The Doorman is able to be there for Ed and talk to him and that is
what Ed needs.
Yeah his mom does not know how to talk to people he is more closed to his friends than his family. She causes everybody to get away from her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Ed start to find out how his friends really were. they should've give him their opinion at least and not just ignore him like they did to him.
ReplyDeleteErica Wimmer i totally agree with you. Its also pretty sad that his friends really dont care about him. Also i have notice that he is distancing them little by little.
ReplyDeleteI agree, doorman is like Ed's best friends he is always there for him. Instead of going to he's friends he goes to doorman when ever he needs someone.
